Tattoo artist in Toulouse

Thalia – aka Thalia_sorry_dad

Specializing in floral and Japanese style, Thalia creates superb pieces at Sorry Mom since 2018. Get to know her by reading her bio just below!

Who is Thalia?

Thalia is the mother of the Sorry Family.

She has evolved in the rock’n’roll scene since adolescence, where she discovered tattooing. Sported by his punk friends of the time, these tattoos stitched on clearly visible parts such as the neck, the hands or the face then express belonging to a group with a strong identity, that is first and foremost what impressed and seduced.

One of her first tattoos, made by one of her rocker friends (RIP Faba) was already a big Japanese one which covers her entire calf and which reflects the interest and love she door to Asian culture. Because you will quickly understand when you meet her that she is passionate about Japan and its culture, which, according to her, represents a perfect mix between modernity and respect for traditions. She had the chance to have a small piece tattooed on her hand by Horitada during a trip to Japan.

Lover of nature (her apartment is gradually transformed into a greenhouse) her world is a gentle blend of botany and Japanese references directly inspired by the great masters of Japanese prints such as Utagawa Kunisada, Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi. She likes to work with fine lines, in black and gray, but also with solid colors to create more traditional patterns, or in watercolor for a lighter and more vaporous rendering.

She is also passionate about paint. She admires the work of light by the Impressionists and Caragvage, and is particularly fond of the works of Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, Gustave Doré and Jerome Bosh and the illustrations of Ozabu, to name but a few.

Thalia fait partie de l’aventure Sorry Mom depuis la première heure, on vous épargnera son CV, elle a notamment évolué dans le graphisme textile et le trompe l’œil.
If she mainly likes to work with fine lines and florals, peonies, cherry blossoms and other varieties of flowers, she also creates more traditional Japanese pieces.
Although the fact to complain is intrinsically part of her DNA (by her own admission), she is keen to show kindness and gentleness with all those who pass under her needles.
